Welcome to The Scribe of Light Photography. We're a new photography business in North Carolina founded in 2007. Our specialization is in portrait and wedding photography.
My name is Tom Boucher, I own The Scribe of Light Photography. I've spent many years now perfecting my skills in photographing people and decided that I wanted to share my expertise. I offer the unconventional portraits. After hearing years of complaints about the lack of flexibility with portraits that had been taken by people I've met I decided to create a business based on what I felt wasn't being offered in the area.
Our offering is fairly straight forward for portraiture work. A $60 sitting fee will get you a photo session that lasts up to an hour. I will show up anywhere with in a 25 mile one way driving distance from Wake Forest, NC.
We can either discuss before hand, or while on site and develop what style of portraits you'd like to do. If you'd like to do something further away it is possible (such as a beach location) but we'd need to discuss travel costs for those types of trips.
I will do either indoor or outdoor photos, your choice. They can be at your home, at your favorite park, at Falls Lake, or anywhere you think would be a good backdrop. The Wake Forest Baptist Seminary is really popular in the early Spring.
I highly recommend outdoor options. The weather isn't always cooperative nor is the time of year but these portraits tend to be the most enjoyed. However if you would like to do something indoors using your own home decoration as the backdrop, or the more traditional mottled canvas background those options are available as well.

Once the inital portraits are taken I will process them lightly and upload them to a website for you to select the photographs that you like. I will also do any minor editing up to combinbing expressions from multiple photos if it is possible without a large amount of work. I'll let you know how that works at the time if you feel that type of manipulation is needed. With small children sometimes that can be the best way to get the perfect photograph in a group photo.
For the final delivery of prints I offer the standard film print in typical sizes such as 5x7, 6x9, 8x10, 13x20, and larger. If that is all you need then I have a pretty basic pricing structure for single images.
I also offer Stretched Canvas prints at 8x10 or larger. Your photo is printed on an art canvas and then stretched onto a wooden frame. I offer 10 sizes up to 36 x 48, and prices for these start at $199.95.
If you're looking for more than one or two prints I try to create a flexible way of a 'package' so to speak. It's pretty simple, 3-5 prints I'll take 5% off the total price of the sitting fee & prints, 5 - 10 prints I'll take 10% off, and 15 or more I will take 15% off the print rates.
A 'print' is defined as a single printed image, or a single sheet of wallets. The photographs do not have to be of the same type. If there are 14 poses you like, with 14 different sizes, that's 14 items.
